LAITHEHILL STUD
Quality Welsh Ponies

Established in 1968 the Laithehill studs
sole aim has been
to produce quality ponies with true Welsh characteristics.
The Laithehill stud was
founded in 1968 with the purchase of the yearling filly
Tetworth Tropical Romance (Downland Romance- Downland
Sandalwood) Her daughter Laithehill Harvest Dance (by Lydstep
Barn Dance) produced Laithehill Cordelia (by Chamberlain Don
Juan) who in turn produced Laithehill Ophelia (by Abercrychan
Spectator) Her son
Laithehill Oberon (by Heaton Romeo) is
our stud stallion.
Oberon has now won the WPCS
Sire Ratings seven times 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014,2015 and
2016.
He has also won the progeny class at the Royal welsh twice
both in 2008 and 2010.

Three of our young mares
retained in the stud are also direct descendants of Laithehill
Cordelia.
Kirby Kane Plume (Coed Coch Blaen Llued - Coed Coch Pluen) was
acquired by the stud in 1977. Before coming to Laithehill, she
had produced Clyphada Periwinkle, the dam of Keston Royal
Occasion. She subsequently produced two fillies; Laithehill
Plush (by Radmont Tarquin) and
Laithehill Pavlova (by
Tetworth Njinsky) who were both retained by the stud until
they died. Laithehill Mazurka(by Heaton Romeo) our top show
mare is out of Laithehill Pavlova and is still retained with
her daughter Laithehill Symphony (by Eyarth Rio).
The stallion Tetworth Njinsky (Lydstep Barn Dance - Tetworth
Czarina) was our stud stallion from 1976 to 1992. He has sired
a number of prizewinners including, Boston Bally Wot Not and
Wentbridge Sequence. He was succeeded by Abercrychan Spectator
(Penwood Mujib - Synod Champagne) in 1987 to 2001. Spectator
was the winner of the WPCS sires ratings in 1990, and produced
many winners including Laithehill Ophelia who went on to win
the young mare class at RWAS in both 1997 and 1998. He has
also been a great influence on the stud through his son
Laithehill Allegro (out of Weston Anita). Allegro was sold to
the Telynau Stud. Heaton Romeo (Eyarth Rio - Katrina of
Kirkhamgate) was leased to the stud for three
seasons from
1998 to 2000, and we have 7 of his offspring retained.
